Description
The 1747-ASB serves as a bridge for Remote I/O, linking one master device (SLC or PLC scanner) with one or more slave adapter devices. It supports discrete and block transfer I/O mapping, including ½-slot, 1-slot, and 2-slot addressing for efficient image utilization.

Installed alongside an SLC 500 processor, the 1747-ASB scans I/O modules in the chassis and provides a backplane current of 375 mA at 5 V DC. It can communicate over distances up to 3040 meters and supports user-selected image sizes of up to 32 logical groups. The module also enables control of up to 30 chassis slots and provides non-volatile memory with extended node capability up to 32 adapters.

For connectivity, the 1747-ASB uses a 6-Pin Phoenix Connector and requires Belden 9463 or equivalent cabling. No user programming is necessary. The module supports all SLC 500 I/O modules, including basic, resistance, and high-speed counter modules. Operational status and error diagnostics are displayed on three 7-segment displays. Designed for industrial environments, the 1747-ASB meets NEMA standard noise immunity requirements.
