Description
D20 Control Module Overview
The D20 Control Module consists of two detachable parts: the WESTERM D20 K and the WESDAC D20 K.
-
WESDAC D20 K (Top Module):
This module processes acquired data and communicates with the main D20 processor (see Figure 2). -
WESTERM D20 K (Bottom Module):
This is the termination board where all field wiring connections are made. It manages all connections to and from the WESDAC D20 K module, including: -
The D.20 network ports
-
The 9600 baud RS232 maintenance port
-
The WESDAC D20 K module address
-
Relay outputs
-
External DC supply for control output voltage
Key Features
-
The D20K is a 32-point control output interface module.
-
The 32 output drivers can be configured in various hardware/software arrangements based on system requirements.
-
It ensures secure operation of the control output interface, with all control actions (initiated, timed, reset, and validated) managed by the D20K upon requests from the main D20 processor.
-
Provides a Local/Remote switch for maintenance:
-
This manually operated switch disables relay coil power on the D20K during maintenance.
-
An off-line indication is sent to the main D20 processor and is available as a pseudo-status to the host system.
Connectivity
-
Two DB9 connectors allow daisy chaining of the D.20 Link, enabling communication between the main D20 CPU processor and the WESDAC D20 K.
-
Power for the WESDAC D20 K is also supplied via the same cable assembly.
-
A single DB9 connector is provided for the WESMAINT D20 maintenance port, which connects to a VT100 terminal emulator for diagnostics.
-
The address jumper block for the WESDAC D20 K is located on the WESTERM D20 K, defining the module’s address on the D.20 link.
Design Advantages
-
The WESTERM D20 K contains only passive components, with all active components mounted on the WESDAC D20 K.
-
This modular design simplifies field repair and maintenance because the WESDAC D20 K module can be replaced without disturbing any field wiring.
