Upgrades

Release 2.14 RTU Controller Firmware is intended exclusively for use on the 8521-RT-DE controller licensed as an RTU. It is not compatible with any other 8521 controllers.

• End users can upgrade to version 2.14 from controllers running version 2.13 or 2.12.

• IO configuration and strategy downloaded with Workbench 8.4 SIM5 or later to an RTU controller running firmware version 2.14 is not compatible with RTU firmware versions prior to 2.13.

• When reverting to earlier firmware versions, a clean flash of the controller is required.

• Firmware updates are published on the Support site: www.ge-ip.com/support as a ZIP file.

• Upgrade instructions are provided in the 82A1739-PM01-001-B2.pdf document included in the upgrade kit.

• The upgrade kit for this release is Part Number: 82A1762-MS10-000-A2.

New Features and Enhancements in Release 2.14

The following features and enhancements are introduced in the RTU controller firmware Release 2.14:

• Implementation of the ability to store “Analog Output events” (Object 42) with support for variations 2, 4, 5, and 7. The default variation is 2.

• Support for variation ‘3’ of Object 40 (Analog Output Status).

• In firmware versions prior to 2.14, the ‘automatic save retained variable’ feature is enabled by default even if the controller does not contain any Trusted Host Table.

• Starting with firmware version 2.14, the ‘automatic save retained variable’ feature is disabled if no Trusted Host Table is downloaded to the controller.

• If needed, this feature can be enabled by selecting the save retained variable option when downloading the Trusted Host Table.
