Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC670ALG240 is a 16-point analog current output module designed for the Genius Field Control system. It features 16 single-ended current loop inputs that accept signals from both 2-wire and 3-wire current transmitters, converting these signals into digital values for the host processor.

Each input channel on the IC670ALG240 provides a filtered signal ranging from 0 to 25 milliamps. The module scales the input according to preset scaling parameters and converts it into engineering units for the host processor.

During operation, the IC670ALG240 continuously monitors every scaled signal against software-configured alarms and user-defined under-range and over-range thresholds. If an error condition is detected on any channel, the module triggers a corresponding diagnostic command accessible and monitorable by the host processor. Standard alarm reporting includes:

  • High/Low alarms

  • Under-range/Over-range conditions

  • Open wire detection

The IC670ALG240 does not require an additional power supply for its internal operation. However, a 20 to 28 V DC external power supply is necessary to power the current loops.

To reduce electrical noise interference, the module incorporates three types of filters:

  • Input filter

  • Line filter

  • Averaging filter

Additionally, it offers three predefined scaling options plus a user-configurable custom scaling feature.

Configuration of the IC670ALG240 module is performed via the Bus Interface Unit (BIU) using a handheld programmer. Parameters can also be read from and written to the Bus directly in applications that support this functionality.

The module is installed on a terminal block that serves as a wiring base. Like all Genius Field Control I/O modules, it can be replaced easily without the need to reconfigure the terminal wiring.
