The IC697CGR772 is a Hot Standby Dual Bus CPU control module from the GE Genius Series. This single-slot controller is designed to handle fluctuating mandatory point calculations, making it ideal for CPU redundancy applications. Programmed using the Microsoft Disk Operating System, the IC697CGR772 provides real-time control of machine processes and material handling systems. It interfaces with smart option modules or I/O modules via the backplane in a rack-mounted configuration.

The module features a three-position switch and can also be operated remotely through an attached programmer and software. Configured data can be secured using passwords or a memory protect keyswitch. In the protected mode, configuration changes are restricted to programmers linked via the bus transmitter module. Seven LEDs on the module provide CPU status indication.

Power is supplied from an isolated source and 5V DC external power options, supported by a lithium battery that preserves data and program memory when power is lost. When replacing the battery, the new battery should be connected before removing the old one. A low battery condition is indicated by the OK LED failing to stay lit.

A critical component of the IC697CGR772 is its memory board, which includes 512 Kbytes of battery-backed CMOS RAM. Any errors are communicated to the CPU through routines provided via this memory board. The module also includes three serial ports accessible from the front panel, which function as independent communication ports.
