The IC697RCM711 is a Redundancy Communications Module designed for the GE Fanuc 90-70 series. This single-slot module features five LEDs that indicate the status of the board and system. It provides a communication path for synchronizing messages from the active unit to the backup unit and facilitates the transfer of I/O data shared between both units.

The module has two connectors: one on the top, used for attaching the upstream BTM or BRM, and one on the bottom, which is not used. The IC697RCM711 requires 0.7 amps of current and is configured using MS-DOS software. It includes a high-speed parallel bus interface and supports Hot Standby and Hot Standby CPU Redundancy system configurations.

The module occupies a single slot between slots 2 and 9. The five LEDs are labeled Board OK, Local Ready, Local Active, Remote Ready, and Remote Active. The IC697RCM711 also features a pushbutton that allows manual switching from the active unit to the backup unit, enabling maintenance on the previously active unit while the system remains online. After a switch, the system enforces a 10-second delay before another switch can be made.

When installing the IC697RCM711, users should refer to the Hot Standby CPU Redundancy User’s Guide or the Enhanced User’s Guide. The rack power must be turned off before installation, and can be restored after the module and cables are properly connected.
