Description

D20 Control Module Overview

The D20 Control Module is a two-part, detachable unit consisting of:

  • WESDAC D20 K (Top Module)

  • WESTERM D20 K (Bottom Module)

This modular design enables flexible operation, easy maintenance, and simplified field installation.

Module Functions

  • WESDAC D20 K (Top Module):
Responsible for data processing and communication with the D20 main processor.

  • WESTERM D20 K (Bottom Module):
Acts as the termination board, handling all field wiring and physical connections to the WESDAC D20 K.

Key Connections via WESTERM D20 K

  • D.20 Network Ports

  • 9600 Baud RS232 Maintenance Port

  • Module Address Configuration (Jumper Block)

  • Relay Outputs

  • External DC Supply (for control output voltage)

D20K Control Output Interface

  • Provides 32 control output points

  • Supports various hardware/software configurations to meet system requirements

  • Ensures secure operation of control outputs

  • Executes control actions (initiation, timing, reset, and validation) as commanded by the D20 main processor

Additional Functional Features

  • Local/Remote Switch:
A manual switch to disable relay coil power during maintenance.

    • Sends an off-line status to the D20 processor, which is forwarded to the host as pseudo status.

  • Control Output Fusing:
    Integrated fusing for additional protection.

Communication & Maintenance

  • Two DB9 Connectors:
Allow daisy-chaining of the D.20 Link (communication between D20 CPU and WESDAC D20 K)

    • Also provides power to the WESDAC D20 K through the same cable

  • One DB9 Connector:
For the WESMAINT D20 maintenance port, accessible via a VT100 terminal emulator

Address Configuration

  • Jumper Block Location:
Situated on the WESTERM D20 K, used to assign the WESDAC D20 K’s address on the D.20 link

Design & Maintenance Advantages

  • The WESTERM D20 K contains only passive components, while all active components reside in the WESDAC D20 K

  • This design allows for easy replacement of the WESDAC D20 K without disrupting field wiring

  • Ideal for reducing maintenance time and minimizing system downtime
