Description
The IC697CPU780 module is built for applications requiring high system availability through redundant (hot standby) CPU operation. It pairs a primary CPU with a secondary CPU, enabling automatic and seamless control transfer without downtime in the event of primary CPU failure or mode change from RUN to STOP.
The 16 MHz 80386DX processor delivers fast Boolean logic execution (0.4 µs per function), supporting complex control tasks including floating-point calculations. The CPU can manage up to 12 KB of discrete I/O and 8 KB of analog I/O signals, with memory expandable up to 512 KB.
This CPU module includes four LED status indicators for easy monitoring and troubleshooting, and it features an embedded RS-485 communication port used for programming, diagnostics, and CPU communication.
The lithium battery backs up volatile memory, ensuring data retention for up to six months without power. The battery has a 10-year shelf life at standard room temperature.
The IC697CPU780 supports redundancy features including automatic CPU synchronization, bumpless switching, one scan switching, and online programming and repair, all designed to eliminate single points of failure in critical control systems.
