The Bailey name has a rich history of excellence in control and instrumentation, dating back to the development of the world's first steam boiler meter. Founded in 1916 by U.S. inventor Ervin G. Bailey, the company quickly gained global recognition in the field of automation.

In 1989, Bailey Controls merged with Italy's Elsag Group, forming Elsag Bailey Process Automation and achieving top market positions in various process control and instrumentation sectors.
